The Numazu and Mito area is full of small aquariums: deep-sea creatures, an island that is an aquarium, and a seaside aquarium where you can meet dolphins and sea lions. Each offers something different. Here is how we suggest visiting with kids.
Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium
Meet strangely shaped creatures that live in the depths of Suruga Bay. You can take your time looking at real deep-sea fish you may have only heard about. Adults enjoy it just as much.
Awashima Marine Park
A small island in Uchiura Bay becomes a whole aquarium. The trip begins with a short boat ride to the island, a small adventure in itself. There are also marine shows.
Izu-Mito Sea Paradise
A seaside aquarium where you can meet dolphins and sea lions, right beside the water.
A one-day plan
- Morning: Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium
- Lunch: seafood at Numazu Port
- Afternoon: head toward Uchiura for Awashima Marine Park or Izu-Mito Sea Paradise
- Evening: back to the house for a garden BBQ
Host's tip: Opening hours, closing days and show times differ by facility and may change with the season. Check each facility's notice before you go.
Good for rainy days too
Aquariums work in any weather. Keep one on your list as a backup for a rainy day.
Each Numazu house sleeps up to 8, with a spacious living room, a 100-inch theater and board games. Kids can play freely. Booking direct on our website is the best rate.
